Look At How Babies Affect Our Planet's Carbon

72% of American adults have children. 60% of American children say they're more afraid of global warming than of terrorism, car crashes, or cancer. Between 2000 and 2050, the U.S. will add 114 million kids to its population. Africa will add 1.2 billion -- But their respective CO2 emissions will be the same. One American child generates as much CO2 as 106 Haitian Kids. Zahara Jolie-Pitt will produce 45,000 lbs of CO2 yearly, compared with 221 lbs if she still lived in Ethiopia. A Typical baby goes through 3,800 disposable diapers in his or her first 2.5 years.

A LAST CHANCE FOR CIVILZATION

This past weekend (June 7th) I had an opportunity to spend some precious time with the renowned environmentalist Bill McKibben at the annual BALLE (Business Alliance for Local Living economies) in Boston. If you have never heard this man speak, you should do so whenever possible. On this particular occasion he was speaking about his concerns for our 350 ppm (Parts-per- Million) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. I have decided to use his comments on my blog as my guest.

I now give you BILL McKIBBEN: ________________________________________________________

This weeks (May 18-24) Richard's Commentary

Below is a review of where we left off last week. Following the review will be our first weekly commentary: LAST WEEK'S SUMMARY: Shar, I am writing this to you, but I am sending it all over the world. It is our time to shine. No longer can we be lead by the Empire's hand picked leaders Black, White, or Hispanic. We need to empower ourselves, because if the 650,000 number is correct, guest who these so called leaders will try to save. You got it, themselves, or the people who pay them.

THE DREAM REBORN

Last weekend in Memphis, I personally had my Dr. Martin Luther King's Dream Reborn. Just being in Memphis for such an occasion for someone my age was in itself a dream. To find myself on Friday morning April 4th, 40 year to the day that Dr. King was assassinated standing in the mist of the union that represented the garbage men, Dr. King had gone to Memphis to defend, was a tremendous emotional experience. Then to march from the union hall to the Lorraine Hotel where he (Dr.

By Jeremy Brecher, Tim Costello and Brendan Smith t r u t h o u t | Perspective Monday 31 March 2008 Today they'd be called "green-collar jobs" - cleaning up the environment. Back then, the workers who performed those jobs were just garbage men. And they were treated like garbage. Martin Luther King Jr. died fighting to make their green-collar jobs be good jobs.

7 Reasons Why I’m Not Voting for Hillary Clinton

ROSA PARKS

The morning when Coretta Scott King died, I was still working as a janitor at the station (KKFI). So when I arrive at work that morning, I remember asking the person who was operating the on line program if he had heard that Coretta Scott King had died that morning. His reply is something that has never left my sub-conscious mind. He said, Coretta Scott King, wasn't she Martin Luther King's wife or something like that?

PEOPLE OF COLOR CONCERNS

I really wish it was possible for me to be able to concentrate on sustainability only, but as a person of color I find myself in a position of being responsibility for keeping the lack of us an issue. As we prepare for our meeting Sunday, ask yourself, how many Native Americans have been contacted about joining our coalition. Or as far as that is concerned how may Hispanic have been contacted.
