Earth Peace Systems is moving forward with sustainability implementation! We are beginning this process by developing a Biofuels Coop that will help meet the needs of transportation while oil depletion peaks and fails those who rely too heavily on this polluting resource.
Earth Peace Systems is a social ideology and philosophy founded on the principles of respect for life, love, and learning. Our ultimate goal is to create environmental, economical, and socially sustainable development systems for the benefit of all life on Earth. Earth Peace Systems is organized into self-directed work teams which incorporate ingenuity, innovation, and knowledge in an effort to produce quality services and products. The Earth Peace Systems mission is the significant reduction of pollution through research, development, implementation, public education, and advocacy for energy efficiency, conservation efforts, recycling programs, renewable energy systems, and sustainable designs. Our goal is to take the necessary measures toward sustainable human development & peace, thus creating the greatest potential path for the human experience.
The Earth Peace Systems Biofuels Coop will start by constructing a vegetable oil processing facility. We will purchase and trade for large quantities of agricultural products from local farmers and press these products (soy beans, sunflower, corn, canola (aka rape seed), hemp (if it ever becomes legal) etc.) for their oil. The by-product of this process is an excellent animal feed. The oil will be sold to local restaurants and the used vegetable oil will be collected from the restaurants, taken back to our facility, and processed into usable product for Biodiesel. It remains to be seen weather or not we will build a biodiesel processing facility and methanol / ethanol processing though all are in the future for this coop. I fully anticipate that a working model can be built in a very efficient and sustainable manner within one year. The initial production capacity of this facility should be over 1 million gallons per year with expansion capabilities of up to 10 million gallons.
We will need to start by implementing a council of directors who will find funding and oversee operations. Earth Peace Systems is currently seeking serious participants who would like to sit on the directors council or the advisory board for this and other operations we will be implementing. If you are interested in participating in this sustainability adventure please contact me as soon as possible! We will be forming a construction group to specialize in sustainable building practices. No specialized skills will be necessary for those who wish to help us build various projects and all are welcome to participate. This group will construct the biofuels processing facility as well as earth contact homes made primarily from earth and recycled materials. A specialized division of our construction group will focus on renewable energy systems which will provide power for all of our facilities and water containment and on site processing. The homes will all be constructed with internal greenhouse spaces for food production and the land around them will also be used to provide for the needs of the community.
In short, by the beginning of the next US President's administration our operations should be in full production and we should have green jobs available for around 30 EPS members. Expansion must happen on a rapid scale to prepare our communities for the climate crisis and peak oil disasters that are currently upon us. Please comment with your ideas about how to best implement sustainability throughout our community.

BSECKC Sustainability Projects
I would like to address sustainability example projects that our group supports and giving those projects a priority level. At the meeting on 1-26-08, we discussed the need for a community center and what sustainable aspects such a location should feature. This is one project that I believe will allow us to carry out our mission statement in the most effective manner while giving our organization a base of operations. The following projects have been brought to the table as well and have positive implications for our community.
This is simply my recommendations for the types of projects typical of sustainability endeavors world wide. We sometimes come from the mindset that we represent an original concept, (it is to our area) but remember that Kansas City’s sustainability and community needs are very similar to hundreds of other cities around the globe. Let’s be reassured as these cities have made great strides to create a more sustainable world.
I propose that those involved enough to read this in full, copy the list, add your own recommendations and/or edits, # the list in the priority order that you feel we can accomplish these goals. If you will email me your priorities or post them on this blog then I will tally the results and report them back to the group at future meetings. Group participation is essential to creating sustainability. I hope this list represents the types of goals BSEC has in mind, as it is how I see sustainability making a difference. We all know our time is precious; furthermore, our time to act may be fleeting in contrast to the future implications of climate change, peak oil, and societal issues. We need to be able to decide what direction this group is moving so we can individually decide where our time is best spent.
Bright blessings to all of you, thank you for your time.

List Prioritization
Kaedden,
Thank you for the list. The priorities you have assigned are fabulous. Some of the items are "lead by example" items which I hope to do like bicycling etc. If I were to add to the list it would simply be gardening concepts. Spring is the next season and will provide an opportunity for us to grow food, can foods, and otherwise preserve.
Establishing a list is the first step and I so appreciate your energy and vision. Organizing some committees to implement, educate ourselves etc on each item in the list would be a logical next step. I can see the community center offering all kinds of help for people who garden etc.
In conclusion, the list is in an order I can agree on and perhaps we can add roof top gardening and parking lot gardening to the list of items to become educated on.
Proposal to City Councils &
Proposal to City Councils & Planning Commissions
By Kaedden Michael Landy
We the People of This City, County, State hereby propose that this community hereby focus all of our future construction techniques toward the LEED Platinum standards set forth by the US Green Builders Council in order to increase the efficiency of all structures to be built in our community.
We the Citizens of this Community hereby request that the city use their position to negotiate grants for the citizens and business of our Community, both existing and new. These incentives should to go to low income areas and people willing to invest their own money into: energy efficiency, renewable energy system, renewable fuels, high mileage or electric vehicles, or for working from or near your home. These grants should be valued individually and be as high of a percentage as the grant can afford. Everyone applying should get an equal percentage of whatever they are applying for up to a certain amount per type of project. The overall generosity of these funds is a win-win situation for the citizens, the city, county, state, nation, and indeed, all life on Earth.
Earth Peace Systems hereby proposes a community sponsored contest for all ages to find the best sustainability projects for our community to show our commitment to these ideals. Local government, businesses, and sustainability sponsors can fund prizes to the project designers in all categories and age groups. And then we work together to build these community projects which help our community achieve its overall goals for sustainability. If we need extra labor we could use these projects as a rehabilitation and community training program for people owing the city fines or juvenile delinquents or community members can always volunteer or better yet create a steady flow of local government contracted green jobs.
Earth Peace Systems hereby proposes that our local government bodies all adopt sustainability measures and policies throughout all local government offices. Lead by example. This means conservation practices, energy efficiency buildings & equipment, recycling programs, renewable energy systems, and sustainable designs. This will create a community ready to survive the climate crisis that is upon us. This will inspire a community toward intelligent design rather than urban sprawl, an important factor for any community in this day and age of change.
